Fresh rack · Player 1 breaks

One screen. Two players.

To shoot, press anywhere on the cloth and pull back, like a slingshot: the cue follows your finger, the shot goes the opposite way, and the further you pull, the harder the stroke. Letting go takes the shot; slide back to where you started to cancel. A quick tap aims at that spot, which helps for fine adjustments. The dashed line ends on a ghost ball where the cue ball first makes contact; the short gold line shows where that object ball heads, and it turns red when the ball you are about to hit first is not yours. You can also set power with the slider and use Take the shot. Tap the small cue ball in the controls to strike above centre for follow, below for draw, or to one side for english that changes the angle off a cushion; it returns to centre after every shot. While balls are moving, Finish shot now completes the same physical shot without waiting for the animation. After they settle, pass the device if the turn changes.

Keyboard and placement controls

Focus the table with Tab. Left and Right adjust aim by 1° (Shift for 5°, Alt for 0.1°); Up and Down change power by 2 points (Shift for 10). W, A, S and D move the cue tip for follow, left, draw and right spin; C centres it. Space or Enter takes the shot. When you have ball in hand, the arrows move the ball in screen directions (Shift for bigger steps) and Enter places it. The four nudge buttons also work without dragging. After a rack, Enter starts the next one.

Our eight-ball rules.

This is a casual local game with its own rules. It does not claim tournament scoring.

  1. Break. Player 1 breaks the first rack; after that the break alternates. Contact any numbered ball. A legal pot keeps the turn, but the table stays open. The 8 returns to a clear spot if pocketed on the break, even with a scratch.
  2. Groups. After the break, hit any solid or stripe first on an open table. The first solid or stripe you pocket on a legal shot assigns your group. Opponent balls that fall stay down. You keep shooting when a ball of your assigned group falls legally.
  3. Fouls. A scratch, missing every object ball, hitting an ineligible ball first, or a shot after the break where nothing is pocketed and no ball touches a cushion after the first contact gives the incoming player ball in hand anywhere legal. A foul never assigns groups. There is no called-pocket rule.
  4. The 8. Begin a shot with your group already cleared, hit the 8 first and pocket it without fouling to win. Pocketing it early or with a foul loses the rack, except on the break. If the table is still open and only the 8 remains, either player may play it.
  5. Position. For ball in hand, drag or nudge to clear cloth and confirm placement. The cue ball cannot overlap another ball, a cushion or a pocket. A placement is not a shot.

Start a fresh rack?

This clears the current rack and racks the balls again. The same player breaks.
